Blake reached Viridian City again, and looked around...

"There is nothing here for me, I think I will head towards the forest now."

Blake walked out the gate of the city and into the forest. There were trees and tall grass everywhere. He slung his backpack off and sat on a tree stump.

"If I want to make it through the woods, I will have to make a stop somewhere in the middle when it gets dark." Blake said.

Blake started to wade through the tall grass. It was hard to find his way. His head barely protruded from the tall crabgrass.

"I wonder why there are no paths!" Blake said. Just then he came to a strange clearing.

"Hmm, this looks like a good place to stay! I think I will scout around here and come back here when dark comes."

Blake walked through the clearing back into a grassy area. He hoped to catch another Pokémon before dark.

"It would really be nice to catch a Caterpie!" Blake said, hopefully. He knew that he should look around the grass, low to the ground. Blake cleared a small patch of tall grass out of his view, and to his luck, a Caterpie was munching on a small flower.

"Okay! If I'm real quiet, I can catch it!" Blake crept up slowly to the unsuspecting Caterpie. He got close, then stood up suddenly. Before Caterpie could react, Blake threw out a Pokémon.

"Sandshrew! I choose you!" Sandshrew came out, still curled into a ball, just like when he was caught. "I know you're still weak Sandshrew, but you can take Caterpie!"

"Sandshrew, Sand Attack!" Blake said to Sandshrew. Sandshrew kicked up a spray of sand that hit Caterpie in the face. Caterpie rolled back.

"Okay, Sandshrew! Tackle it!" Sandshrew rolled into a ball and hurled itself towards Caterpie. Caterpie shot a wad of string at Sandshrew, but it just rolled off of the spinning Sandshrew. Sandshrew hit Caterpie in the gut and knocked him out.

"Sandshrew, return!" Blake held out Sandshrew's Pokéball, and Sandshrew entered it. "Okay Caterpie, you're mine!" Blake hurled an empty Pokéball at the weakened Caterpie, it took Caterpie and started jumping around violently.

*Tick* *Tick* *Tick* *POOF*

"Alright, I already caught another Pokémon!" Blake anxiously picked up the newly aquired Caterpie and put it on his belt. He noticed that the sun was no longer high in the sky. He walked the short distance to where he had decided to sleep the night and set up camp. The next morning, he was headed for Pewter City, and maybe a badge!
